What we do:

The Soldotna Library Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding for library programs and enhancements at the Soldotna Public Library.

We encourage participation and support in the planning, development and growth of this unique and valuable community resource.

Latest news:

  • Seed Library - Did you know we have a Seed Library? Seeds to plant vegetables and flowers are available for free. Thank you to the Central Peninsula Garden Club for the $200 grant to fund this wonderful community resource.
  • Jazz and Blues CD's - Thanks to KDLL, we have a fabulous collection of Jazz and Blues CD's in our book store - 3/$1 or 50 cents each.
  • Sew Fun at the Library - Sincere THANKS to Soldotna's Joann Fabrics for the huge discount on sewing supplies. We appreciate your support of community programs.


Recent programs funded:

  • Seed Library - We are funding the purchase of bulk seeds to stock our Seed Library and just received additional funding from the Central Peninsula Garden Club. The Seed Library provides free seeds to the community reducing barriers to entry level gardening.
  • Sew Fun at the Library - We have 6 new sewing machines for classes and 1 for checkout. Monthly classes will be held at the library.
  • Watch for the 2023 Summer Reading Program whose theme is "All Together Now" - promoting kindness, friendship, and unity. The reading program is for children AND adults.
  • Our basement bookstore has new bookshelves in the children's area and across the back wall. These were built by one of our amazing volunteers with the Friends supplying the materials.
  • We received a special donation in January 2023 against book banning
  • Story Walk at Parker Park 
  • One Thousand Books Before Kindergarten - funded annually
  • Special donations were received to purchase:
    • Books about Alaska
    • Books for children and youth which support diversity and tolerance
    • Large Print books
